If there are speed limits everywhere, making it so you can only drive a certain speed in specific locations, why do car companies make what we drive everyday capable of going 100+ miles per hour? What’s the extra 40-60mph for?

whoa that is really weird, I was just thinking about that yesterday driving home from work on the freeway, watching reckless drivers speeding into my lane.
my logical answer to this would be capitalism, as companies compete to sell the better, faster car. but I definitely see the irony, haha!
